The Secretary to the Government of the State, Mr Rufus Bature said in a statement in Jos that the curfew was to avert a breakdown of law and order.

He said that movement would be restricted from 6 p.m.to 6 a.m. except for those on essential duties. There was tension in some parts of the state after several attacks in some communities left many people dead.

President Muhammadu Buhari has blamed the incessant violence in some states across the country on disgruntled politicians who are instigating the violence to seek relevance.

President Muhammadu Buhari said this on Friday in Monguno, Borno state, during the closing events of the 2018 Army Day celebrations.

He promised to bring those perpetrators to book.

“There are pockets of violence in several states. Some deliberately instigated by disgruntled politicians who have lost all arguments and are desperate to cause mayhem as a way of seeking relevance. We shall fish them out and punish according to the provisions of the law,” he said.

Doing personal appraisal of the administration he has led for the past three years, he said “We have worked tirelessly to ensure and preserve the dignity and sanctity of life. When I was sworn in as the president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I promised that this administration would tackle the challenges of insecurity, poor economy and fight corruption”.

“We are all witnesses to the fact that our once battered economy as a nation has exited recession and is once again vibrant. Our nation is safe again, thanks to the efforts of our security agencies.”

He promised not to relent on his effort to secure the release of Chibok girls and Leah Sharibu who were captured by Boko Haram.
