Senator representing Kano central in the National Assembly, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso under the platform of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday visited Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It will be recalled that Kwankwaso also visited PDP presidential Aspirant and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar when his ruling party was holding its National Convention Abuja on Saturday.
The Senator said he snubbed APC Convention because National Working Committee of the party failed to recognize his faction of the party from kano state and to avoid fisticuffs like what happen at Delta and Imo state stands during the Convention.
In a statement from Idowu Adelusi, Fayose’s chief press secretary, quoted both men as advocating for a peaceful conduct of the July 14 governorship election in the state.
The senator has been mentioned in some circles as being among the politicians gunning for President Muhammadu Buhari’s job — but he is yet to make his ambition known.
He is a member of the nPDP within the APC. The faction recently protested alleged marginalisation in the ruling party.
According to the statement from Adelusi, when Kwankwaso was asked by journalists whether he would defect to the PDP, he said his next line of action will be determined by whatever was collectively agreed upon by the nPDP members.
“Kwankwaso also decried the spate of killings in some parts of the country, noting that it was the responsibility of the government to secure the lives and property of the citizens,” the statement read.
Details of their discussion was not disclosed to newsmen.
There were media report that the Senator endorsed Prof. Olusola Eleka of the PDP for the forthcoming election in the state but it cannot be confirmed as at the time of writing this report.
Ekiti state Governorship election has been slated for Saturday July 14 2018.
All Progressives Congress Candidates for the Election is Former Minister for Steel and Natural Resources Dr Kayode Fayemi.
