Ahead of Osun Governorship election slated for September 22, the ruling All Progressives Congress has appointed Senator John Udoedehe, as the chairman of the primary election appeal committee.
Udoedehe is a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
APC has screened 17 aspirants for tomorrow direct primary election.
The appointment is contained in a notice issued on July 12 by the National Secretary of APC, Mai Mala Buni, according to a statement from Mr Udoedehe’s media aide, Ata Etuk.
The committee is to listen to petitions and complaints arising from the party’s screening of its governorship aspirants for Osun governorship election.
Other members of the committee are Buhari Bello, John Yoriyo, C.J Nwosu, and Habib Alkali.
The procedure adopted for the primary election is direct system where all registered members of the party in the state will elect the party flag bearer for the governorship election.
Twelve aggrieved aspirants have faulted the procedure with allegation that it was adopted to favour Chief of Staff to the Governor, Gboyega Oyetola.
Adekunle Adegoke said in an interviw that the primary process has been skewed to favour Gboyega Oyetola, Chief of Staff to the governor.
“At the level of the state governmemnt, some party executives were invited by state officials working for Gboyega Oyetola to ensure his emergent, they summoned the meeting of all local government part chairmen, they rejected him, some women leaders started cursing them, we have audio of the meeting where they were invited”.
”When they saw that the man has been rejected by all delegates, when they saw that there is no way they could win delegate primary they started intimidating party members they cannot force to vote for Gboyega Oyetola, they have been distributing money’.
”I am not afraid of anything if they can take me to court I will produce documents, I will call witness that will show that those documents emanated from them”.
”Oyetola doesn’t have any credential to intimidate anybody, he is not a politician on the field, he has no structure, he came out in February or March this year when he was instructed to contest”.
